|  Braincandy is an inventive, innovative new video series from the Braincandy company that feeds young children’s appetites for learning by encouraging them to experience the world around them more fully. Braincandy represents next generation thinking in video content for very young children by creating a “lean forward” experience, encouraging children to actively engage with the content presented on the screen. By taking an “active play” based approach focusing on children “learning by doing,” Braincandy heightens their sensitivity and awareness for their environment and helps them become more in tune with themselves. Unlike other “drill and practice” videos which only teach children to replay specific information such as ABCs or 123s, Braincandy is focused on helping develop the whole child, encouraging children to be critical thinkers. Instead of memorizing a few facts, children will learn how to engage their senses to explore, experiment and discover new things about their environments and themselves. These skills are essential to helping children become independent thinkers. Braincandy turns the passive activity of watching a video into an interactive, experiential opportunity.
The Braincandy series uses a creative combination of engaging puppet characters representing the five senses, including Bruce Brain the host of the series, “real” kids participating in sensory oriented activities, and innovative 2D animations that show how the senses work. All this set against a backdrop of “kidified,” multi-genre music including reggae, rock-a-billy, classical and more! By stimulating their imaginations, we hope Braincandy will help children learn in new ways and give parents fresh ideas for facilitating exploration. By introducing stimulating concepts about the 5 senses, children now have tools to construct meaningful experiences on their own while helping build the foundation for critical thinking and creativity.
